Participants in the horticulture and construction training courses have gained valuable knowledge and skills and hands on experience in general nursery work activities.
The George Street Community Nursery has hosted two recent training programs and students have contributed a great deal to the upgrade and productivity of the Nursery, increasing stock numbers and maintaining current stock in excellent condition.
Potting up plants, mixing potting media, propagation with seed and cuttings, weeding, pruning and general safe work practices were just some of the skills that TAFE students walked away with after their time at the Nursery. Three of the participants will be going onto further training in Horticulture and Conservation and Land Management
Photos here are of the graduation of our first training participants who worked towards a Certificate II in Construction Pathways.
Facility upgrades and training programs were funded by the Australian Government Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations through the Local Employment Coordinator Flexible Funding Pool.
