STEPS Community Services Maroochydore clients and staff enjoyed three fun-filled days at Borumba Deer Park for their biannual camp.
The wet weather held off for the lucky campers who got involved in a range of outdoor activities including kayaking, bushwalking, mini golf and hand feeding deer.
STEPS Recreational Activity Coordinator Anthony Walsh said everyone always looks forward to spending time together away from their usual routines.
“Camp is a great chance to relax with friends, have fun, try new things and enjoy a piece of the great outdoors we’re so lucky to have in this region,” he said.
“Many people in our group don’t often get the chance to enjoy a trip away. I know our campers will be talking about this trip for a while to come.”
STEPS client Scott McGrory said having some down time was the highlight of his break away.
“My favourite part of camp is being able to spend time relaxing with my friends,” he said.
After busy days the group enjoyed socialising, pampering facials and marshmallow toasting around the camp fire.
Anthony said much of the camp’s success is due to the efforts of STEPS staff and volunteers.
“This camp was one of our best yet. We were spoiled with good food, a great location and a wonderful bunch of people to share the experience with,” he said.
