Course Outcomes

  • Manual handling fundamentals
  • Understand and learn lift polices
  • Transfer a client using a full body hoist; bed to chair,
    floor to bed/chair
  • Using a slide sheet to reposition a client in bed
  • Rolling a client away/towards the worker
  • Assisting a client to walk using a walk belt/walking frame
  • Assist a client from sit to stand/stand to sit
  • Assist a client from lying to sitting
  • Wheelchair safety: a) transferring wheelchair/walker
    in and out of car safely: b) transferring a weight
    bearing person from wheelchair to chair
  • Transfer a client in and out of a vehicle
  • Assisting a client to undress/dress
  • Sliding a supine person up/down a bed
  • Transfer from chair to chair/commode/toilet
  • Assisted walking – raising a fallen person

Entry Requirements

All students undertaking training with STEPS Education and Training must provide their unique student identifier (USI). If a student does not have a USI they can apply for it via the Australian Governments website https://www.usi.gov.au/students/get-a-usi

Fees

To undertake the Manual Handling Refresher Course the following fees are required to be paid prior to the course commencement date.

 

  • Full fee-paying student – $60

 

Payment Terms – Payment for individual students is prior to course commencement, group booking payment terms are based on agreement between the client and STEPS.
