Join our National Recognised Training First Aid courses (HLTAID011) covering topics to enable students to manage emergency situations and provide a first aid response to a casualty. It is suitable to both people in workplaces and members of the public who want training in first aid.

Delivery And Assessments

  • Three (3) hours self-paced online learning
  • Five and a half (5.5) hours of face-to-face practical training
  • Online learning and theory assessment MUST be completed before attending the face-to-face practical training

To successfully complete this course students must be able to perform:

  • Perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult manikin.
  • Simulated First Aid Scenario – Perform CPR on an adult manikin (incl. the use of an AED and placing a casualty into the recovery position).
  • Perform CPR on an infant.
  • Manage a casualty with anaphylaxis.
  • Manage a casualty with asthma.
  • Manage a choking casualty.
  • Manage a casualty with a nosebleed.
  • Manage a casualty with a fracture and dislocation.
  • Manage a casualty with a sprain and strain.
  • Manage a casualty with envenomation (snake/funnel-web spider bite).
  • Manage a casualty with non-life-threatening bleeding and shock, requiring minor wound cleaning.
  • Complete a first aid incident report form based on the simulated First Aid Scenario.

Core Units

HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid (Valid for three (3) years)

HLTAID009 - Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (Valid for one (1) year)

Entry Requirements

Students must have the physical capacity to perform the practical demonstrations such as 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR and rescue breathing on manikins on the floor.

Students must have access to a computer, tablet or other electronic device with access to the internet to complete the online learning and theory assessment.

All students undertaking training with STEPS Education and Training must provide their unique student identifier (USI). If a student does not have a USI they can apply for it via the Australian Governments website https://www.usi.gov.au/students/get-a-usi

Fees

To undertake the First Aid Course the following fees are required to be paid prior to the course commencement date.

  • Full fee-paying student – $95

Payment Terms – Payment for individual students is prior to course commencement, group booking payment terms are based on agreement between the client and STEPS.
