STEPS Group deputy chief executive officer Bryan McCormick said they recognise they are facing a tough job market for some time.
“Our strategy is building pathways for long term sustainable employment for our jobseekers,” he said.
“We are forging ahead, and not sitting back waiting for the full effect of COVID-19 to be over, that could be a long wait, we’re currently working to link jobseekers with areas of the economy where there is a recognised demand for workers.
STEPS have held several recent workshops with managers and staff to identify these jobs and are actively developing strategies to get their jobseekers ready.
“We’re using feedback from employers to identify current demand for staff in a range of fields such as aged care and disability support work, delivery drivers, cleaning, agriculture and warehousing,” Mr McCormick said.
“We’ve looked at employers’ requirements and are assisting jobseekers to undertake the necessary training where required to succeed in gaining work in these roles.
“Our message is there are jobs out there and we are totally committed to ensuring our jobseekers are successful in obtaining employment.”
STEPS offer their Disability Employment Services, STEPS Employment Solutions, via phone and over email, so clients and customers can safely get the support they need.
In addition to disability employment services, STEPS also offer full recruitment service to employers, run workshops and courses that increase employability skills, and offer training designed in conjunction with local industry to skill jobseekers for local jobs.
