STEPS have been supporting vulnerable communities for more than 30 years, but like all organisations they’re facing unprecedented times due to coronavirus.

STEPS Bundaberg plan to remain strong, to continue to run their services to support the Bundaberg community and people.

STEPS operations manager Jennifer Goodchild said they are passionate about helping to create brighter futures, even in challenging times.

“We are taking every possible measure to maintain a hygienic and safe environment for our clients, staff and students, and are strictly following all government health guidelines,” Ms Goodchild said.

“This is a very uncertain time for everyone however we are here to support our clients the best we can.

“We’re committed to providing a quality service to our community, we hope everyone remains safe and well,” she said.

STEPS Bundaberg will offer their Disability Employment Services, STEPS Employment Solutions, via phone and over email, so clients and customers can still get the support they need.

STEPS Staffing Solutions are still operating and are building their support worker pool for increase in local demand, they can be contacted for all enquires via phone and email.

STEPS Community Services are providing essential disability support services to their clients, and whilst the recreational group activities are on hold, STEPS continue to be there for their vulnerable communities and are following all the public health guidelines.

NDIS support coordination also continues and staff are on hand for all enquiries and can be accessed via phone and email also.

STEPS Bundaberg in-house NDIS support coordinator Jenny Byers has localised, specialised knowledge, and has worked with mental health support services for more than 20 years.

“We walk beside our clients especially in difficult times, to help them, and let them know what is available to them in the community,” Ms Byers said.

“It’s all about supporting participants with new information as it comes to hand, so they can direct their lives the way they choose.

“We continue to connect via phone and online with businesses, other service providers and locals, to stay in the loop, so we’re best placed to inform our clients with up-to-date, trusted advice,” she said.

STEPS continue to adapt their services and monitor the rapidly changing environment and will be updating their clients, students and community as new information becomes available.
