Support Workers play a key role in the lives of individuals living with a disability. Their capability to build authentic, high-quality relationships is key to assisting in and advancing independence, welfare, and social connection for those they support.
As a leader in training and education for the disability sector, STEPS launched the inaugural Hobart Support Worker Recognition Award which acknowledges the role of our brilliant Support Workers who work tirelessly to make their community a better place.
We received numerous, incredibly strong nominations from various organisations operating in the Greater Hobart region.
STEPS would like to proudly announce the winner of the inaugural Hobart Support Worker recognition Award 2020 as Rose Riley from Montagu Community Living.
“Working in the industry for over 20 years in a variety of roles, (I am) a fierce defender of people’s rights and a great coach and mentor for new support workers,” Rose said.
The manager from Montagu Community Living has nothing but high praise for Rose, focusing on Roses “unflappable” character and ability to ‘de-escalate any challenging situations with her calm and kindly manner.”
All seven business who nominated Support Workers for the award have supported STEPS with student placements from the CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing or Disability) course run by STEPS in Hobart.
STEPS would also like to thank everyone who was nominated for their incredibly selfless and tireless work they do in the community and wish everyone a Merry Christmas and happy new year.
